Goatsmilk Soap Easy Diy

I love Crabtree and Evelyn's Goatmilk soap. It's been my favorite for years. It's always on my Christmas and Birthday list. Every year. For 25 years.
It's expensive.
I found a way to make it. And it's easy. Plus works out to be $1 a bar.
It's called melt and pour.
Easy!!
I bought silicone molds.
Therapeutic grade essential oil in the fragrance I want... Spanish lavender. Love it.

Here we go.

Melt and pour.

Now to wait.

All packaged up and ready for sale.
Love this product.

Praline Practice

When I get something in my head I just have to do it. For some reason pralines popped into my mind the other day.
So I've been combing the internet for tips and a great recipe.
I decided today to dive in and try one.
Recipe
3/8 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 tsp vanilla

In a heavy stockpot add first four ingredients. Stir slightly to combine.
Bring to a boil 340 degrees. Soft ball.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla and nuts. Beat until opaque.
Scoop onto wax paper.

This is the boiling process.

You have to scoop fast because it hardens quick.

They taste delish. I'll keep working on this one. Perfection.

Big Dipper Day

I did a little more dipping today. Working on tempering the chocolate. Tempering is key to a beautiful sheen and that snap when you bite into a chocolate dipped confection.

Made these Oops  cones. Kind of cute huh?

A little drizzle on my chocolate chip cookies. I had a little chocolate left over and had just made cookies. I little more chocolate never hurt.

Another attempt at a ice cream cone. I just stuffed these cones with marshmallows and dipped them in chocolate. Easy!!

Come see us at Art in the Park on October 4, 2014.
So much to see.

The star of the show is always. Hands down. Chocolate covered graham crackers!! The best!!

Dippin' Mamas

So we are big dippers. We love to dip things in chocolate and etc.
Today I dipped graham crackers in chocolate but not before I put a rolo in between them. Oh my.

Rolo. Melt in oven at 350. For about 8 minutes.

Place graham cracker # 2 on top. Add a stick if you wish.

Melt some chocolate while they cool.

Dip and Drizzle!!

Easy as Fudge Pie

This pie really is Super easy.
I get it from my favorite all time go to cookbook. It's tattered and torn and stained. { you know it's great when it looks like this }
 Here is the recipe.

Nashville  Fudge Pie.
I double the recipe. It makes two regular pies. I just buy the frozen crusts. Makes it even easier!!

You don't even need a mixer. Mix by hand. Just like brownies.

Finished product. Love this pie warm, served with vanilla bean ice cream.

Graham Crackers from Scratch

These make store bought graham crackers taste like cardboard. But I will say they are labor intensive. Buying cardboard is a lot easier for sure.
These were fun. And the kids said they were amazing!!

I made the dough. Rolled it out thin. And cut with a fluted cookie cutter only half way. This was kinda difficult since the dough was so thin.

After freezing the cut dough for 20 minutes. You push ever so slightly a fork. Not to hard. Because it cracks the frozen dough.

In the oven until crispy brown. About 15 minutes.

Allow to cool completely. And then break apart.

They look great. Taste buttery and crisp.

I put white chocolate between the two. Grahamwichs. Delicious!!

It was fun!!
Recipe from Martha Stewart.
As follows:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups wheat flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 sticks butter
Blend
Roll out thin.
Follow above directions.
Enjoy!!

First Day.

The first day of school. You think about it, how it's going to play out. Who will you see. What should I wear. It's never like you picture in your head.
Lanny gets so excited and nervous.
He's just so sweet. So cute. I love him.

Bouncing in the van. He couldn't wait to go in. But didn't want to go in.
Last year in this elementry school.
Kind of sad for me. But great on the other hand.
He probably won't let me even attempt this in 5 th grade. I even got to kiss him on his head. Love him.

The famous fireplace first day shot. Have to take it.
Here's to a great year.
